: Sendo X Review - Hardware :

Styling:
Sendo choose a style much like that of Motorola c335. It's candy bar like shape is common among other phones too, however the Sendo X is very different up close. It measures 110.5mm high and 48.5mm wide. The phone is very compact in size when compared to other smartphones. Sendo did an excellent job designing the phone to look both professional but at the same time fun. Its brushed aluminum look enhances the appearance without looking too flashy. While there are no specifics on user changeable faceplates, it is suspected that it will not be an option. The keypad designed to be easy to use, with enough space to differentiate keys on the same row. The Sendo X also features a 4 way joystick to move through the menu's making it easer and faster to navigate. All this packed into a phone that weighs approximately 120 grams.

Camera / Camcorder:
Sendo wanted to have a smartphone that offered everything a user Sendo X Camera Phonewould ever want in a phone. They succeeded by adding a camera with VGA resolution that also captures video. To enhance the pictures you take with the phone, they added a built-in flash (white LED) as well as 4x digital zoom and automatic red-eye reduction. While these features can't really be commented on yet, I suspect it is among the best available in camera phones to date.

Display:
Sendo decided to not skimp on the display either. The firs thing that sets this phone apart from others is the size of the screen. Measuring 34.85mm x 43.56mm, it takes up nearly half the size of the phone. It has over 65k colors and uses TFT technology -- the best screen technology going right now. Sendo made the screen just a few pixels larger to accommodate the top status bar that appears in all functions of the phone. This allows the user to see vital information no matter where they are on the phone.

Graphics Processor:
Sendo made a smart move and separated the graphics processor and core processor. The developed a dedicated hardware video decoder called GraphiXT. It speeds up 2d graphics acceleration as well as frees the ARM9 processor for other tasks. This is necessary especially for playback of videos and recording video clips. Sendo says it is possible to have the camera's viewfinder run at 30fps making the video less jerky.

Connectivity:
Sendo X Bluetooth CapabilitiesAnother area the Sendo X sets itself apart is in the connectivity department. This phone's got it all... Bluetooth, Infrared, and USB connections are available all built-in. The Bluetooth allows you to connect to your computer wirelessly as well as the optional handsfree car kit. The USB connection allows you to connect to your computer with the included cable. Use it to synchronize contacts, email, and tasks as well as to connect to the internet. As well, the Sendo X is a tri-band phone which works on 900, 1800, & 1900MHz networks. For the US , this includes T-Mobile, Cingular, and ATT Wireless. GPRS connection is also available on the phone with 4+1 connectivity to speed up the internet connection.

Loudspeaker:
To make the phone even more tempting they added a world class loudspeaker with a specially designed acoustic speaker. It is supposed to deliver distortion free sound even at high volume levels. You can use the loudspeaker as a speaker phone as well as to listen to your mp3's and videos. The speaker is also able to play 64 chord polyphonic voice ringtones. The Sendo X also comes with a high quality stereo headset to listen to your mp3's in surround sound.

Sendo X Memory ExpansionStorage:
Sendo says the phone comes with 64mb of internal memory. 32mb of which can be used for user content such as ringtones, pics, videos, and mp3's. With the built in memory it is possible to store nearly 1000 photos captured with the phone's camera. Along with the built in memory, the user can expand the memory with optional MultiMedia Cards or Secure Digital Cards, making storage limits virtually limitless. The cards are even hot-swappable which means they can be switched out even with the phone powered on.

Battery Life:
With all these features, you'd think the battery life would be horrible. But Sendo thought of everything. They say the phone is capable of up to 170hrs standby, but more realistically it will be around 100hrs. As for talk-time, they say it can get up t 7hrs but will mostly be around 4hrs. This all depends on user situation, and network circumstances. Regardless, it offers times up to par with those of other smartphones.
